US Domestic Policy: Illegal Immigration

If you thought that immigration was a big issue only in the UK you would be wrong. If you thought that Israel was the only country in the world illegally occupying another country you would also be wrong.

Here are some facts published by the CIA world fact book 2006:
US Naval Base at Guantanamo Bay is leased from Cuba and only mutual agreement or US abandonment of the area can terminate the lease
– Hence Cuba’s has no chance of taking back their land from its tenants!

The US has made no territorial claim in Antarctica (but has reserved the right to do so) and does not recognize the claims of any other state – I suppose they also claim ownership of the moon, stars and everything in the Universe?

Anyway what’s this got to do will Immigration?
Unlike most other countries, the population of the United States consists largely of the descendants of immigrants.

The US senate in May has passed a bill that would allow millions of illegal immigrants to become American citizens. But the Immigration bills have stalled in Congress, where members are still divided over whether to crack down on illegal immigrants or give many of them the opportunity to become citizens

US “Labor Day” rallies had been organised by many pro immigration groups. Anti-immigration groups had also been present; they had been patrolling US borders and confronting illegal workers in cities around the US.

"These people are violating our laws, and they are taking away what belongs to Americans," said Michelle Dallacroce, founder and president of Mothers Against Illegal Aliens. "They come down here on our Labor Day and march on our Capitol. It makes me want to vomit."

It’s a shame that people like Michelle Dallacroce, Michelle Malkin & Samuel Huntington fail to understand that they themselves are sons/ daughters of immigrants. Shouldn’t these people be entitled to the same opportunities that Dallacroce’s forefathers benefited from? Didn’t the country belong to the natives before Spanish, French and UK took over?

Didn’t Texas, New Mexico and California belong to the Mexicans before the settlers annexed them? Yep, thats right!

Maybe the US could be more lenient towards illegal immigrants that cross the border particulary Mexicans living and working in California? Why not give those who successfully crossed the border automatic citizenship? Considering that the US has a declining, ageing population, how can it sustain its economy without these young residents who will, effectively, later help to support the ageing native population? Give them a chance.
